Sacraments of Healing Penance Jesus gave the Church the power to forgive sins. Many Scripture stories show that Jesus loved and forgave sinners who asked to be forgiven. God wants us to turn back to him after we have sinned. This is called "Repentance". Forgiveness brings peace. Anointing Anointing of the Sick is for those who are frail, seriously sick or in danger.
